Should You Really be Afraid of a Root Canal?
If you’re like many people, the thought of getting a root canal may make you want to hide under the covers. However, there are several reasons why you really shouldn’t be afraid of having this dental procedure done on one of your teeth.

  • It probably won’t hurt—One of the main reasons why people are afraid of root canals is because they think they are incredibly painful. However, chances are, you won’t feel much of anything when you’re getting a root canal. This is because, at Northern Horizon Dental, we use an anesthetic to numb the area before we start working on the tooth.
  • You’ll recover quickly—After your root canal, you’ll likely be able to go back to your normal daily activities without a problem. Although you may experience some mild discomfort for a few days, you will probably find that taking an over-the-counter pain reliever helps.
  • You’ll preserve your tooth—The purpose of having a root canal done is to remove an infection inside of one of your teeth. When you undergo this procedure, you save your tooth. Plus, if you maintain proper dental hygiene, you probably won’t have a problem with this tooth again in the future.
