Dental ImplantsIf you have one or more missing teeth, you may have heard about dental implants and how they are an advantageous tooth replacement option. Although this is the case, unfortunately, not every person is a good candidate for dental implants. Generally speaking, you may be a good candidate for this tooth replacement option if:

  • Your teeth and gums are generally healthy
  • You have sufficient bone density in your mouth to support an implant
  • You do not have diabetes or another autoimmune condition that could affect your ability to heal properly after the insertion of the implant
  • You are committed to keeping your teeth and gums healthy on an ongoing basis

The best way to determine if you can benefit from dental implants is to schedule an appointment with us at Northern Horizon Dental. When you come in for your appointment, we will review your dental history, the health of your teeth and gums, and decide whether we think implants would be a good way to go.

If we decide that you could benefit from this tooth replacement option, we will start off the process by placing a small post made out of titanium in the spot where the tooth is missing. After this post has taken hold in the jawbone, we will place an abutment on top of it that will hold the crown, or the new tooth, in place.

If you’d like to know more about dental implants and their advantages, give our office a call today. As your dental provider, we’re always more than happy to answer your questions.
